Top Ten Bad Habits You Should Be Avoiding

1. Skipping Sunscreen - The best way to keep away wrinkles is sunscreen.  Use a broad-spectrum formula (meaning they will sheild UVA and UVB rays).  Apply sunscreen everyday before your makeup and reapply every 2 hours if you are active or swimming.  We know, its a pain, but come on - you'll get the last laugh instead of the 1st laugh lines. 2. Tanning - In trying to protect itself form continued exposure to sun, the skin thickens and produces melanin (pigment that darkens skin).  Pigment changes from UVA an UVB light, causing premature aging and increases the likelyhood of skin cancer.  Try a spray tan or use a self tanner instead. 3Not washing your face at night - Letting skin marinate in makeup - not to mention a day's worth of oil buildup leads to clogged pores and breakouts.  4Smoking - It's time to quit.  You'll not only damage your health but you'll develop

Announcing the newest line of neuro toxins. (similar results to BOTOX® Cosmetic)

Xeomin is the next generation neuro toxin wrinkle reducer.  Achieve similar results to  BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®.  Xeomin has been used aesthetically in Europe since 2005 and used for medical applications since 2009 in USA.

A new alternative to BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®, XEOMIN® was developed by Merz Aesthetics and is one of the latest treatments for wrinkle reduction on the market today. XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) has been approved by the FDA for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows) in adult patients.  Providing results comparable to BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®.

Like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, XEOMIN® is administered to targeted areas through injections with an ultra-fine needle. XEOMIN® is composed of a highly diluted form of botulinim toxin which prevents facial muscles from contracting and forming wrinkles and frown lines. Daily activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure as there is no post-treatment recovery. Results become noticeable in a few days and typically lasts several months.

What Is Botox Cosmetic And How Does It Work?

comments (1)
Posted by MelissaW

Botox Cosmetic is prescription medicine that is injected into muscles to temporariiy treat moderate to severe frown lines between the brows of adults.  It works by blocking nerve impulses to th injected muscles.  This reduces muscle activity that causes those lines to form.

Why Should I Consider Botox Cosmetic?

Years of squinting, concentrating , or frowning can cause your skin to furrow and crease.  As time passes, your skin becomes less elastic and those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows remain...even when your muscles aren't contracting. The moderate to severe frown lines between your brows that form are often referred to as your 1's and may make you look angry and unapprochable.

Dr. Roperti's combination of artistry, skill and great attention to detail has made facial contouring with Botox Cosmetic and Dermal Fillers our most sought after service.

Results have been shown to last up to 4 months.  When used recurrently results will likely last 5 to 8 months.  Your own results may vary - be sure to talk with Dr. Roperti about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.

Treating Hyperpigmentation

That dark spot, scar or dull patch is inevitalbe especially with sun exposure.  Our skin tone is determined by the pigment Melanin.  With excessive sun exposure, hormonal changes, genetic or drug reactions an over production of Melanin leads to hyperpigmentation.,  Sometimes other skin conditions such as acne can also lead to hyperpigmentation.

Rejuvenate offers various treatments for hyperpigmentation:

Photofacials - IPL (Intense Plsed Light) uses the power of light to clear sun damage, age spots and broken capillaries.  Rosacea and acne may also be treated effectively.  Your skin tone will be more refined, with less pronounced redness within a week after treatment.  Vessels may disappear after treatment or may appear darker and then fully or partially fade within 10-14 days.  The texture and tone of your complexion will improve with each treatment supported by new collagen deposition.  Pigmented spots will darken after treatment and shed from your skin within 1-2 weeks.  This is a great treatment to reverse sun damage to your skin

PIGMENT BALANCING PEEL - The SkinCeuticals Pigment Balancing Masque is one of our newest treatments for brightening your skin. If a mottled complexion, sun spots and uneven skin tone concerns you, this treatment can help.

A combination of skin brightening, anti-inflammatory and peeling agents are used to stimulate cell turnover and reveal the healthy skin below. A series of five treatments are recommended at 10 - 14 day intervals. High potency Vitamin C and Embilac to lighten and suppress excess melanin production. (This masque does not contain hydroquinone (HQ) but has similar effectiveness to prescription strength 4% HQ)

How To Make Your Skin-Care Products More Effective

EXFOLIATE FIRST

Dead skin cells act as a barrier. You need to remove those dead cells for products to get in. A good salicylic acid or glycolic acid cleanser works best. (Try SkinCeuticals Claryifing Cleanser or LHA Cleanser)  For even better results, schedule a Microdermabrasion  every 4 – 6 weeks.

GO IN ORDER

Whatever goes on first penetrates best. In the morning the first thing to apply after you have cleansed your skin is an antioxidant C-serum.  This powerhouse prevents premature aging and corrects existing photodamage while generating cell turnover for a more radiant appearance. At night you should apply a retinol cream first.  This helps stimulate cell regeneration and build collagen which helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles. After treatments are in place, smooth on other items in order of density, from thinnest (antioxidant serum) to thickest (sunscreen or night cream).

SAVE RETINOIDS FOR NIGHTTIME

Retinoids do their best work at nighttime. Skin temperature rises while we sleep, because more blood is shunted to the skin. And with greater warmth and blood-vessel dilation comes better penetration. Your skin absorbs more overnight. (Try SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5 or 1.0).

TRY SERUMS

You'll find the strongest dose of active ingredients in serums. A serum is a concentrated source of an active ingredient in a simple form that penetrates very quickly and completely, unhindered by lotion-type emollients that make it difficult for active ingredients to sink in. (Try SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF).

Are You Eating Enough Beauty Foods?

Eating certain foods can dramatically improve the appearance of your skin, hair, nails, and eyes.

A diet rich in  "phyto-compounds" can stimulate DNA repair, increased collagen production, and reduce inflammation.  This not only keeps you healthy but it keeps you looking younger longer.

Beauty is dependent on the overall health of your body.  In order for your skin to look attractive and vibrant you need to make healthy lifestyle choices, and a great place to start is with the foods you eat.

So if you want your skin to feel soft and look firm here are a few foods that you can eat to help.

Water:  Hydrated skin naturally looks younger.

Blueberries:  These are one of natures most potent anti-aging foods.  They help keep the skins elasticity, strengthen the gums, and contribute to your eye health.

Strawberries:  Help protect our skin from UV rays and help reduce dryness.

Salmon:  Promotes soft skin

Avocados:  These contain folate which helps blood formation. This is essential for cell regeneration.

WHY ALL VITAMIN C IS NOT THE SAME

With many vitamin C products on the market today, it is important to choose a topical antioxidant serum with an effective formulation.  When it comes to scientific proof behind skincare, SkinCeuticals sets the standard with published, peer-reviewed science supporting the efficacy of our topical antioxidant serums.
